About Congressional Black Caucus

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is a group of African American members of the United States Congress who work to promote the public policies and interests of African Americans and other minority communities.  The CBC was founded in 1971 and is composed of members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. The CBC works to promote the public policies and interests of African Americans and other minority communities, and it serves as a forum for addressing issues that are of particular concern to these communities.

The CBC has played a key role in advocating for civil rights, economic justice, and social and political empowerment. Some of the issues that the CBC has focused on include voting rights, education, healthcare, criminal justice reform, and economic development. The CBC also works to promote international relations and cooperation, and it has established relationships with black parliamentary caucuses in other countries.
