About David Zwirner Company

David Zwirner is a contemporary art gallery in New York, London, Paris, and Hong Kong and currently represents more than seventy artists and estates. The gallery has been home to innovative, singular, and pioneering exhibitions across a variety of media and genres. In 1993, David Zwirner opened his eponymous gallery on Greene Street in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. In 2021, he opened 52 Walker, a gallery space in New York programmed and led by senior director Ebony L. Haynes. In 2023, he will open its first gallery spaces in Los Angeles.


In addition to the gallery program, he produces content through David Zwirner Online and David Zwirner Books. In 2021, he also launched Platform, a stand-alone e-commerce destination for buying art from today’s most sought-after artists.

Eligibility Criteria

Basic Requirement

  • Must be immensely detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects at once.
  • Strong relationship skills and an ability to build positive contacts with staff across departments.
  • Must be detail-oriented, communicative, and very organized


Art Fair Coordinator

  • BA (Art History, Administration, Studio Arts preferred) 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a museum, gallery, or art institution
  • Familiarity with various mediums of artwork and packing requirements.


Art Handler

  • Knowledge of proper handling and storage procedures for a variety of media
  • Working knowledge of power tools 
  • Minimum of 2 years in a gallery, museum, or auction house setting in art handling, registration, production, or a similar role 
  • Working knowledge of Macintosh OS, as well as familiarity with art database systems

Assistant Designer

  • B.A in graphic design and one to two years in print digital design and production experience or equivalent.
  • Strong typography skills and ability to produce a type-driven design. Thorough understanding of digital mechanical specifications, email and ad material specs, color profiles, and CMYK and RGB color workflows.
  • A broad set of production skills and familiarity with various print-production methods and associated file preparation, for OOH advertising, in-gallery printed collateral, vinyl, and signage.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and G Suite. Experience with Figma and front-end languages (HTML/CSS) is a plus but not required.

Communications Intern

  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Pursuing a full time degree from a recognised university. 


David Zwirner Internship Roles/Positions

Art Fair Coordinator

  • Communicate with gallery departments to gather information and materials to ensure all fair deadlines are met, coordinating and scheduling meetings as needed.
  • Assisting as needed with booth plans and related order forms, including electrical, lighting, flooring, risk assessment, rigging point requests, and wall or floor reinforcement.
  • Managing a high volume art fair shipping and registration, including obtaining estimates, ordering crates and pedestals, creating packing lists, labels, and pro forma documents.
  • Tracking and maintaining fair budgets and submitting related invoices.

Art Handler

  • Installation of gallery viewings and exhibitions at all locations
  • Pack artworks for shipment and storage
  • Assist Registration team with condition checks
  • Assist with packing and installation for all domestic and international art fairs
  • Perform local deliveries and off-site installations for clients

Assistant Designer

  • Creates compelling and strategic design solutions for brand and communications across all gallery touch points.
  • Generates ideas and interesting creative work with strong conceptual foundations.
  • Provides all necessary creative support to Designers, Design Managers, and the Creative Director in all stages of the design process for a variety of projects.
  • Creates presentations and other review materials as needed and some other works as well.

Communications Intern

  • With this role, students will have the opportunity to interact with a selection of other gallery teams including the Sales, Digital, Marketing, Research, and Photo Departments. 
  • This internship program will also include a larger educational component with targeted weekly meetings dedicated to the development of a myriad of PR + Communications skills.

David Zwirner Internship Salary

Intern’s salary in David Zwirner gallery is $15/hour approximately. The pay is fixed for interns and does not change/vary with roles and positions.
